GCIP/EOP Sub-Surface: ARM SWATS Data (2002/07 version)
Summary
The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Continental-scale International Project (GCIP) Enhanced Observing Period (EOP) Department of Energy (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Southern Great Plains (SGP) Soil Water and Temperature System (SWATS) data set is provided "as is" and was not quality controlled by UCAR/JOSS. The Soil Water and Temperature System is designed to provide information about the temperature of the soil and the status of water in the soil profile. Sensors installed at various depths below the soil surface provide hourly measurements of soil temperature and estimates of soil-waterpotential and volumetric water content. SWATS systems are installed at 21 of the ARM/SGP/CART Extended Facilities (EFs). Please see the README file for more complete information, and the ARM web site.
