1995 VORTEX KTLX WSR-88D Level II Radar Data [NCDC]
Summary
This data set contains Level-II WSR-88D radar data from the Twin Lakes, OK (KTLX) site in central Oklahoma (35.33N and 97.278W) during periods the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT) T-28 aircraft flew for the Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes EXperiment - 1995 (VORTEX95) field project. Data are included for the following periods:
3 May 1995: 2104-2359 UTC
5 May 1995: 2001-2357 UTC
7 May 1995: 1504-1855 UTC
17 May 1995: 2005-2357 UTC
21 May 1995: 1204-1657 UTC
23 May 1995: 2003-2356 UTC
The NEXRAD Level II data are the three meteorological base data quantities: reflectivity, mean radial velocity, and spectrum width. Depending on the volume coverage pattern in use, the data resolution varies (five, six or ten minutes). A data file consists of a 24 byte volume scan header record followed by numerous 2432 byte base data and message records.
