2003 JPOLE/TELEX KOUN Polarimetric Radar Data [NOAA/NSSL]

Summary

This data set contains net cdf data from the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL) KOUN polarimetric radar located in Norman, OK. Only the data collected during periods the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (SDSMT) T-28 aircraft flew for the Joint Polarization Experiment (JPOLE) and the Thunderstorm Electrification and Lightning Experiment (TELEX) are included. These dates are 16, 19, 20, 23 May and 4 and 10 June 2003. A variety of polarimetric parameters are included (Kdp, PhiDP, Reflectivity, RhoHV, Velocity, and Zdr) from a number of tilt angles (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 7.5, 8.7, 10, 12, 14, 16.7, and 19.5 degrees). DISCLAIMER: These files contain research-quality, experimental data. Users assume all risks and understand these data might not resemble future operational data sets. Prior to using these data researchers should contact Terry Schuur at NSSL (Terry.Schuur@noaa.gov) for information on data quality issues and proper usage and interpretation.
