Alliance Icing Research Study
Summary
The Alliance Icing Research Study (AIRS) is a collaborative effort involving several Canadian and U.S. research agencies and Universities. AIRS is a project endorsed by the Aircraft Icing Research Alliance (AIRA), which consists of government organizations within North America interested in aircraft icing. It is also supported by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) World Weather Research Program (WWRP) project on Aircraft In-Flight Icing.
The First Alliance Icing Research Study (AIRS I) occurred during 1999-Nov-19 to 2000-Feb-18 using 3 aircraft stationed out of Ottawa and remote sensing hardware located at both Ottawa and Mirabel to investigate the remote sensing of aircraft icing and other aircraft icing issues.
