GCIP/EAOP-99 project description
GCIP Large Scale Area-East EAOP-99
Summary
The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Continental-scale International Project (GCIP) Enhanced Annual Observing Period - 1999 (EAOP-99) takes place in the Ohio-Tennessee River basins as a data collection effort in a Large Scale Area (LSA) of the entire Mississippi River basin. The Ohio-Tennessee River basins provide a number of watershed areas that are potentionally useful for focused hydrologic studies. The EAOP-99 dataset constitutes the fifth GCIP ESOP dataset during the GCIP five year Enhanced Observing Period (EOP) and the first in the Ohio-Tennessee River basins. Objectives:
The primary objectives for EAOP-99 are: (1) to develop a comprehensive meteorologic and hydrologic dataset for diagnostic, evaluation, and modeling studies (2) develop coupled hydrologic/atmospheric models, (3) conduct diagnostic studies of energy and water budgets, and (4) improve the hydrometeorological prediction and water resources management.
