GCIP/ESOP-95 project description
GCIP Large Scale Area-South West ESOP-95
Summary
The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Continental-scale International Project (GCIP) Enhanced Seasonal Observing Period - 1995 (ESOP-95) takes place in the Arkansas-Red River basins as a data collection effort in a Large-Scale Area (LSA) of the entire Mississippi River basin. The Arkansas and Red River basins provide a number of watershed areas that are potentionally useful for hydrologic focussed studies. The ESOP-95 Data Set constitutes the fourth in a series of GCIP Initial Data Sets (GIDS-4).Objectives:
The primary objectives for ESOP-95 are: (1) to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the scientific community, the adequacy of a GCIP data collection and management system for an initial set of diagnostic, evaluation, and modeling studies; and (2) to rectify any data system modifications identified in time for providing the services needed during the Enhanced Observing Period.
