VORTEX project description
Verification of the Origins of Rotation in Tornadoes Experiment 94
Summary
VORTEX was held in the central and southern Plains of the US during the spring season of 1994. It was designed to address current research questions relating to tornadogenesis and tornado dynamics. Also see VORTEX-95 for information of the 1995 VORTEX field season. The objectives of VORTEX were stated in terms of testable, refutable hypotheses for which adequate data could be collected. The hypotheses were related to: 1) The role of the environment; 2) Tornadogenesis; 3) Tornado Dynamics; 4) Tornado debris deposition; and 5) Adjunct experiments.
