Summary This dataset contains results of IC analysis of low volume Fluoropore aerosol filters collected at Macquarie Island (clean air lab.), using a filter stack to separate sub- and super-micron radius aerosols. A front `Nuclepore' or `Poretex' polycarbonate filter (47 mm, 8 ?m pore size) collects aerosol of > 2 ?m diameter, with the remaining aerosol being collected on the back Fluoropore teflon (47 mm, 1.0 ?m pore size) filter. Sampling is continuous, and flow rates can be calculated from the volumes in the table and assuming a one week sampling period. This would allow the dedicated researcher to improve the estimation of the size cut. However, there is no drying of the air stream prior to passing through the filter, and the size cut is therefore nominal and dependent on conditions. Non-sea-salt sulfate has been calculated using sodium as a reference element. All data are in nmol m-3. Data from the > 2 ?m diameter fraction are still under investigation, with as yet unsolved blank problems and other uncertainties. However, this fraction is heavily dominated by very large, locally generated, sea-salt aerosols and appears to contain very low concentrations of the other, non sea-salt species.
