The files in this directory contain images of NDVI values for the ABLE area. The file names identify the date of the image and the satellite that acquired each image. For example, one of the files in this directory is 99278a14.ndvi.2139.AOI02.gif. The first two numbers (99) indicate the year, 1999. The next three numbers (278) indicate the Julian day, which, in this case, corresponds to Oct 05. The two numbers following the a, and preceding ndvi (a14.ndvi) indicate that the satellite is NOAA 14. The other satellite (a15.ndvi) is NOAA 15. Once you click on a file name you will see that this information is displayed in a similar manner at the top of each image. The time of the pass in UTC is also shown above each image. NOAA 15 passes over the ABLE area in the morning at about 9:30 (CDT) local time. NOAA 14 overpasses are in the afternoon at about 16:30 (CDT) local time. The images are automatically cloud screened using Smartrak 2.7 satellite data analysis software. Files in which large portions of the image are cloud covered are still present in the directory and will appear mostly black.
