1.0 DATA SET OVERVIEW

This data set contains the radiosonde observations from the
Coordinated Enhanced Observing Period (CEOP) Global Energy and Water
Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Americas Prediction Project (GAPP) Reference
Site operated by the Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) Program at
its Tropical Western Pacific (TWP) facilities in Manus Island and Nauru.
This data set includes 2-sec vertical resolution observations of temperature,
pressure, dew point, wind speed, wind direction and relative humdity.
This data set covers the time period 1 October 2002 through 30 September
2003. Radiosondes were typically released every 12 hours at both sites,
although there are sometimes more frequent releases. Further information
about the ARM TWP site is available at the following URL:
http://www.arm.gov These data are in netcdf
format.
