1.0 DATA SET OVERVIEW

This data set contains the high resolution (2 second) radiosonde observations for 
Sodankyla, Finland (WMO code: 02836; latitude: 67 22' 00,0" longitude: 26 37' 44,6" 
elevation: 179,2 m a.s.l).  The data set consists of a gzipped tar file that will 
expand after untar into individual sounding files named in the form yymmddhh.dat. 
The files are in columnar ASCII.  The complete EOP-3 and EOP-4 period 
(1 October 2002 to 31 December 2004) is included.

2.0 INSTRUMENTATION DESCRIPTION:

The files contain operational ascents at 2 sec. resolution.

A = Elapsed time since sonde release
B = Pressure (hPa)
C = Altitude above mean sea level (m)
D = Temperature (C)

3.0 DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING:

Radiosondes are launched in principle two times a day (12 and 24 h UTC).
