Aircraft Meteorological Data Reports (AMDAR) and Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) Data https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/100.016 Summary AMDAR is the generally-accepted worldwide term for automated weather reports from commercial aircraft. The contribution of the United States to AMDAR is called MDCRS. MDCRS is funded jointly by the U.S. government and the seven participating airlines (American, Delta, Federal Express, Northwest, Southwest, United, and United Parcel Service). These U.S. data are also sometimes called ACARS. Time and spatial coverage may be incomplete. For access to more of this data or for data-specific questions such as format, coverage, or usage, please refer to the "AMDAR FAQ" documentation link or email ESRL/GSD listed as an "additional contact". Due to an unexpected hardware failure the following files corresponding to 26 days during the year 2017 were lost (listed below): Jan 6, 10, 17; Feb 11, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25; Mar 13, 22; Apr 6, 22, 29; May 6, 7, 22, 25; Jun 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14; Jul: 12; Oct: 19.
