Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer 1-Second Data https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/483.009 Summary This dataset contains non-refractory, chemical speciated submicron particulate chemical mass data taken aboard the NSF/NCAR C-130 aircraft (Tail Number N130AR) during the Wintertime Investigation of Transport, Emission, and Reactivity (WINTER) project from 3 February - 13 March 2015. Please see the header portion of the data files for a list of parameters measured. In detail: Corrections were made to account for 2 recently discovered vaporizer effects; a) correction for a small positive bias on CO2+ from NH4NO3, resulting in a ~1-2% change in concentrations (see Pieber et al., ES&T, 2016 DOI: 10.1021/acs.est.6b01035 for specific details), and b) an overestimation of the chloride concentration from a similar effect that was recently discovered by our group (Hu et al., AS&T, submitted). We can provide more details if interested. In addition to these corrections, the collection efficiency (CE) we typically use is from our 1 minute data product, to reduce noise. However, CE is dependent on particle acidity, and since we frequently sampled power plant plumes during WINTER, I incorporated the use of CE from our 1 second data product to capture the rapidly changing particle acidity within the short sampling times of power plant plumes. This should improve analyses of changes in species concentrations as we cross such plumes. 3.0: This version is the final data. Users are strongly encouraged to contact PI for proper data use. A smoothing error in the CE correction from previous version that resulted in several points being erroneously removed was fixed. Citation Jimenez, J. 2018.
