Weather Radar Data

Summary

This dataset contains the weather radar (WXR) data collected during the High Ice Water Content (HIWC) Radar Study project that took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The radar measurements contained in this dataset have been processed to remove the instrument properties from the airborne radar data and thereby produce the best scientific measure of the atmosphere and the HIWC environment. There are 4 different file types (List, RadProd, bitmap, and KMZ) containing radar measurements with each file type containing all of the flights in one file.

Versions
  • 1.0 (2018-05-02)
  • 2.0 (2019-06-25):

Unified the types of data and single processing methodologies between the two flight campaigns. Specifically, we reverted to the industry-standard pulse-pair processing to calculate all radar products (eg. RRF, Vel, SpectralWidth), and we added our Index of Dispersion observable and its corresponding Radar-estimated Ice Water Content (RIWC) products.

(Only the current version of the data is available to order. If you have questions about a prior version, please email us.)
