MAF: Mountain Airflow

Summary

The main objective of project Mountain Airflow (MAF) was to observe the spatial distribution of airflow, temperature and turbulence in and adjacent to the planetary boundary layer in the undisturbed flow upwind as well as the disturbed flow downwind of an isolated mountain. The data gathered from the QueenAir, A-80 aircraft was used to test and improve numerical and fluid simulations of mesoscale flow as influenced by the presence of the obstruction.
