Stone Ave., 4th Floor Tucson, Arizona 85701 Phone: (520) 740-6350 Andy.Wigg@dot.pima.gov 1.0 DATA SET OVERVIEW This data set contains hourly surface meteorological data from the Pima County ALERT weather station network. There are a total of 4 stations included in the data set. The parameters collected vary by station. The stations are located throughout Pima County in Arizona. This data set covers the period from 1 June to 30 September 2004. The data are in ASCII format. 2.0 INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION 2.1 Instrumentation Information Most weather sensors (with exceptions noted below) are approximately 12-13 feet above the ground surface. The sensors for 4297 (wind), 4301 (RH) and 4302 (temp) are located on the NWS doppler tower approximately 66 feet above the ground surface. 2.2 Station Locations See the file PCALERTLOC_072004.xls included as part of your data order. 3.0 DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING No information on any Pima County processing at present. UCAR/JOSS conducted no processing or quality control on these data. 4.0 DATA FORMAT AND FILE NAMING 4.1 Data Format There are files containing all wind parameters (WIND_DEG.TXT) and all temperature and moisture parameters (TRh.txt). These data are in columnar ASCII format. Each file contains some header records that describe the station ids, paramters, and units.
