IHOP_2002 Satellite: POES NOAA AVHRR Imagery [JOSS] 1.0 General Information The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Polar Orbiting Environmental Satellites (POES) Advanced Very High Resolution (AVHRR) Imagery is one of several satellite products collected as part of the International H20 Project (IHOP_2002) field catalog operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research/Joint Office for Science Support (UCAR/JOSS; http://www.joss.ucar.edu/ihop/catalog/). Images from four channels of the AVHRR aboard NOAA 14, 15 and 16 are included, all at a 1km resolution: Channel 1: (visible; 0.58-0.68 um) Channel 2: (near-IR; .725-1.0 um) Channel 3: (near-IR; 1.58-1.64 um) Channel 4: (thermal-IR; 10.3-11.3 um) The products cover the period from May 12, 2002 through June 26, 2002 and cover the IHOP_2002 sector (32-42N and 90-105W). By nature of the Polar Orbiting Satellite system the observation times of each satellite vary from day to day. In general, at least two scans were performed of the IHOP_2002 region per day and are included in this dataset. 2.0 Data Contact Steven Williams UCAR Joint Office For Science Support P.O. This dataset consists of horizon to horizon scans at 1-km resolution from the visible channel, two near-IR channels, and one of the thermal-IR channels of the AVHRR instrument. Images from NOAA 14, 15 and 16 are included. All images are in JPEG format.
