The power pole data was compiled from shapefiles from Aerometric for areas within the city limits (in which power poles were digitized off aerial photography) and by students from Michigan State University's Arctic Ecology Lab and the University of Texas at El Paso Systems Ecology Lab for the outlying areas using Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) technology which is post-processed with Trimble Geomatics Office.
