TITLE: Fe_Data_HLY0701_1 AUTHOR: Ana Aguilar-Islas/ Robert Rember/Jingfeng Wu University of Alaska, Fairbanks 930 Koyukuk Dr. Fairbanks, AK 99775 Tel: 907-474-1524 Fax: 907-474-2679 Email: aaguilar@iarc.uaf.edu DATA QUESTIONS: Same as author DATA SET OVERVIEW: Dissolved and total Fe concentrations for depths and ice cores collected during the HLY-0701 cruise. INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION: Water samples were collected using automated trace element samplers in conjunction with vanes (ATE-vane samplers). Ice cores were collected using a Mark II ice corer ( Kovacs Enterprises) attached to an electric drill head. DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING: Collection: Derive parameters: Quality Control procedures: Data intercomparisons: DATA FORMAT: File Structure: ASCII tab separated List of parameters: Cruise ID Stn_Name Stn Evnt Bottle Date/Time (UTC) Lat Deg (N) Lon Deg (W) Depth (m) Ice Core No. Total Fe (nM) Dissolved Fe (nM) Flags: missing data= -99.9 Data version number: Version1 August 8, 2008 DATA REMARKS: Iron concentrations are reported in nanomole per liter (nanomolar) (nM). Samples for dissolved Fe were filtered through 0.4um track etched polycarbonate filters and acidified to pH 2 prior to analysis. Samples for total Fe were unfiltered and acidified to pH 2 prior to analysis. The outer 5 cm of ice cores were removed using a titanium chisel. The clean inner core was then melted inside an acid clean PE bottle.
