Most of these gauges represent unique Arctic Ocean drainage basins in the Northern Eurasia which are important to evaluate river input to Arctic Ocean. Drainage area of these unique basins are from 48 km2 to 2950000 km2 and they cover about 1074700 km2 or (82%) of Eurasian Arctic drainage basin. The data for Russia were collected at State Hydrological Institute, Saint Petersburg, Russia and data for Norway were provided by Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate. The data set covers a period from 1907 to 2003 with most data falling in the range from the mid-1930s to the mid-1990s. -Time period covered by the data 1907 to 2003 -Data source, if applicable (e.g. for operational data include agency) ROSHYDROMET - Federal Service of Russia for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring for Russian data; Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate for Norwegian data. -Any World Wide Web address references (i.e. additional documentation such as Project WWW site) http://rims.unh.edu/data/station/list.cgi?col=1 ---DATA FORMAT: Data is available in two files, the station attributes file which contains information about each station and the data file containing time series of daily river discharge in m3/s. Station attributes file: tab delimited ASCII text file with headers Data file (time series): tab delimited ASCII text file with headers Description of Fields 1) Station attributes The station attribute file has 1 header line and 66 data lines with one line per station and 11 fields of data: Field Description ===== =========== PointID Station identification number from R-ArcticNet monthly discharge dataset (http://www.r-arcticnet.sr.unh.edu/v4.0/index.html), Code Station code from RosHydromet or Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate used by R-ArcticNet and ArcticRIMS, use this field to link to the data file Name Station Name, typically "[River] At [Location]" Lat Latitude of station in decimal degrees Long Longitude of station in decimal degrees DArea Drainage area of drainage basin upstream from station (km2) DArea_effective Actual contributing area excluding inland basins Source Agency responsible for the data DistanceToOutlet Distance from gauge to river outlet Start First year with data End Last year with data 2) Data file Field Description ===== =========== Code Station code from RosHydromet or Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate and used by R-ArcticNet and ArcticRIMS, use this field to link to the station attribute file Year Year of data point Day Day from 1 to 31 for each calendar month Month (Jan-Dec) For each month from January to December, the mean daily discharge in m3/s is given Empty fields in both tables mean no data values or information are available For long-term river discharge data at monthly time see http://www.r-arcticnet.sr.unh.edu/v4.0/index.html
