The files contain soil survey data for sites along the Dempster Highway, Yukon Territory, Canada, and were compiled by John S. Kimble, Soil Conservation Service, Lincoln, Nebraska. There is an ascii text document file associated with each data set in this directory. There is also the file appendix.txt (ascii) which contains brief explanations of the methods used for soil sampling, considerations in the use of the laboratory data, a brief explanation of the methodology that is the basis for soil classifying criteria, and a bibliography. The data files and associated documentation for each data set are briefly described below. The document file desc.txt is a description of the data elements collected in the laboratory for this project. The data file (desc.dat), describes the latitude, longitude, pedon identification number, the surrounding land and soil chracteristics, and more. The data file is 1350 columns in length and is space delimited.
