Description:
Abstract:
A "Village District" is a NSB Zoning District. The Village (V) District governs the city limits of each incorporated village and the sites and immediate environs of unincorporated villages in the Borough. The entity responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance to land management regulations and zoning ordinances on the North Slope is the NSB Permitting and Zoning Division, a division of the NSB Department of Planning and Community Services.
Purpose:
This data set was automated for the official North Slope Borough Zoning maps.
Supplemental_Information:
Title 19 contains the North Slope Borough land management regulations and Barrow zoning ordinances, which were adopted in 1990 and are part of the North Slope Comprehensive Plan. The title creates a unique set of land management principles and procedures for development in the Borough. The ideas contained in it were developed by officials and residents of the Borough in many public meetings held to develop the Borough's Comprehensive Plan, Coastal Management Plan and other planning studies. The title's purpose is, a) to achieve the goals and objectives, and implement the policies of the North Slope Borough Comprehensive Plan, including the Coastal Management plan, b) to ensure that the future growth and developemnt of the Borough is in accord with the values of its residents, c) to identify and secure, for present and future residents. the beneficial impacts of development, d) to identify and avoid, mitigate or prohibit the negative impacts of development, and e) to ensure that future development is of the proper type, design and location, and is served by a proper range of public services and facilities.
