AWAS data files: START08 Trace gas data from the Advanced Whole Air Sampler (AWAS) is archived in two data formats: 1) *.GV files are individual flight data in NASA Ames format. Note that -99999 is actually used for missing data, while the header shows 99999 as missing data. 2) *.txt files are tab-delimited text files with no header, just column names. -99999 are missing data. Additionally one tab-delimited text file includes all flights with missing data as -99999 (START08_ALLFLIGHTS_AWAS_final_v01.txt). A separate file removes all -99999 from the data file and blanks are substituted (START08_ALL_no99999_AWAS_final_v01.txt). Units: Time in UTC past midnight of the flight date. UTMID is the midpoint of the sample start (UTSTART) and stop (UTSTOP) times. Mixing ratio: Methane, N2O, CO in nmol/mol; all other gases are reported as pmol/mol. Occasional contamination and artifacts were identified in some cases, and these values have been removed. However, small artifacts may still remain for some compounds and the user should contact the prinicipal investigator to clarify missing or questionable data. Measurements of N2O and CH4 have been corrected to a nominal dry mixing ratio by using the ambient water vapor data. However, this correction may not fully account for water that may have been condensed during sampling. Thus, values for these gases may be artificially low for very moist samples. Data reported for a new set of gases including Methyl Acetate, Acetonitrile, and MTBE should be regarded as provisional.
