Instrument description: The UMass FM-CW S-band radar resolves the variations in refractive index structure of the boundary layer at a spatial resolution of 2.5 m. Table 1 summarizes the basic operating characteristics of the system. Table 1. Radar Characteristics Frequency: 2700 - 2760 MHz Peak Power: 250 Watts continuous Sweep time: 50 msec Sweep bandwidth: 60 MHz Range resolution: 2.5 m Height coverage: 2.5 km Beamwidth: 3 deg. During CASES-99, the FM-CW radar operated continuously during IOPs. 3. Data description: GIF images: Time-height profiles of log10(Cn^2). Start time in UTC. Time in minutes since start time (3 hr files). Height in meters AGL. NetCDF files: Reflectivity, eta, in m^2/m^3 Start time in UTC. Quality control: Data are averaged, stationary clutter removed via high-pass filter. Horizontal lines are residual artifacts from frequency synthesizer used as a frequency source and should be disregarded. --------------28335839A06705E515914DEB-- --------------EA67FD7A84CC50BE6A24A1A4--
