DATASET OVERVIEW

DATA DESCRIPTION:
This file contains a glacial geology map of the Upper Kuparuk River Region, Alas
ka. This map is based on a previous map of the region at 1:250,000 scale (Hamilt
on, 1978) and field reconnaisance in 1996. It was mapped from color-infrared aer
ial photographs taken in 1982 and enlarged to 1:25,000 scale. This product was p
artially funded by the LAII/ATLAS project. The latitude/longitude of the center 
of this map is (UTM) 7615000N, 405000E.

DATA FORMAT:
File Name = geolmap10_24_01bw.png (Portable Network Graphics Format, a bit-mappe
d graphics format similar to GIF). This file (2.7 MB) contains the 36" x 25" ful
l size map. This final version of the data file was submitted to JOSS 01/24/2002

File Name = geolmap10_24_01bw_14x20.tif.gz (Tagged Image File Format). This file
 (6.6 MB, zipped) contains the 14"x20" reduced version of the map. Unzipped, thi
s file is 73.2 MB. This map can also be viewed on the web at http://www.geobotan

DATA REMARKS:
This file was zipped with GZIP (available for free download at http://www.gzip.o
rg), but most unzipping programs should be able to open it. To view the TIF file
, a simple graphics program is all that is needed.
