28 September 2016 This directory contains the data collected by the Halo Streamline Doppler lidar that was provided by the Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program for PECAN. This lidar was included in mobile PISA #3 (the University of Wisconsin - Madison's SPARC facility) during PECAN, and thus collected data in different locations nearly every day. The PI of this facility is Dr. Tim Wagner. The contact for the ARM contribution to PECAN is Dr. Dave Turner (NOAA/NSSL). This directory contains files where plane-parallel-indicator (PPI) scans were performed (approximately every 2 minutes) that were processed with the velocity-azimuth-display (VAD) technique to derive horizontal wind speed and direction. Dave Turner's VAD processing routine was used (same as for other mobile and fixed PISA Doppler lidars). The "RMS" field provides a measure of how well the lidar PPI scan data fit the assumed sine wave at each height/time; large values of the RMS indicate bad fits and potentially the data should not be used. These data were re-processed in June 2016 after a bug was found in the original dataset (that was processed in Feb 2016). The dataset was uploaded on 28 September 2016.
