The LEDWI produces present weather reports by measuring frequency changes across an emitted light beam and the icing sensor detects ice accretion by measuring changes in vibration frequency across a metal rod. Each of the five ground sensor suites deployed during ICICLE included a Vaisala Present Weather Detector-22 (PWD22), a sensor analogous to the LEWDI, as well as an icing sensor. At the conclusion of ICICLE, the EPTA was run on data collected at each surface site. The EPTA output for each site has been archived to include minutely reports of ice accretion, ice accretion rate, EPTA present weather type, and PWD-22 present weather type.
