[Dataset Title] UIUC Supplemental Soundings Data/Images [Dataset Authors] Lead: Joshua Lave, National Center for Atmospheric Research, lave@ucar.edu Scott Landolt, NCAR [Time of Interest] 2019/01/26 00:00:00 to 2019/03/08 23:59:59 [Area of Interest] 39.50 to 40.50, -87.50 to -88.50 [Data Frequency] 1 second [Data Spatial Type] vector [General Dataset Description] The sounding data collected by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and processed by NCAR provides upper air information meant to supplement that provided by standard NWS soundings. These supplemental soundings were launched at the request of ICICLE forecasters on days where flights over/near/downstream of UIUC were being considered. The sounding data files include typical atmospheric state parameters (pressure, temperature, dewpoint temperature, wind speed and direction) as well as vertical coordinate data (altitude) at secondly intervals from sounding launch to termination. Unfortunately, horizontal coordinate data (latitude and longitude) were not retained after flight initiation. See iMet-4 data sheet for instrument accuracies/uncertainties. Also contains skewT/LogP images for quick reference. Data was collected with the following instrument: Intermet iMet-4 Radiosonde [File Names] uiuc_soundings.zip [Data Restrictions] none [GCMD Keywords] UPPER LEVEL WINDS,ALTITUDE,ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE MEASUREMENTS,UPPER AIR TEMPERATURE,VERTICAL PROFILES [Digital Object Identifier none [Publications] none
