Hourly Epic2001 legII ceilometer statistics file Feb 20, 2002 The 15-s ceilometer data were used to generate hourly cloud base and cloud fraction statistics. The data are computed from the logged files MM_DD_YY.cxx contained in files MM_DD_YY.zip in the archive. These daily files were read in and combined into a single hourly ascii txt file (epic2_ceilo_h.txt) which contain 13 columns: 1 Julian day GMT (middle of hour) 2 # of "total" 15-s data points 3 # of "clear" data points 4 # of "single cloud base" data points 5 # of "multiple cloud base" data points 6 # of "totally obscured" data points 7 # of "partially obscured" data points 8 clear fraction 9 cloud fraction without including totally obscured points 10 cloud fraction including totally obscured points 11 16th percentile cloud base (m) 12 50th percentile (median) cloud base (m) 13 84th percentile cloud base (m) There is also a similar file that has been averaged at 10-min time resolution: epic2_ceilo_10min.txt. Note, the raw 15-s data is also available from the ftp site in the form of daily zip files mentioned above. There is also a single ascii file with the 15-s raw sky designation and cloud base data which is called epic2_ceilo_15s.txt. Access the data at ftp://ftp.etl.noaa.gov/et7/anonymous/cfairall/EPIC/epic2001/ceilo/
