Subject:
SGP/ECOR/E24 - Water Vapor Density Incorrect
DataStreams:sgp30ecorE24.b1
Description:
Mean Water Vapor Density (mean_q) often did not trend well with the co-located SMOS and
sometimes jumped downwards approximately 200 to 300 mmol/m^3. Some of the instances were
clearly a result of contamination by precipitation, but others were not; the latent heat
flux was sometimes affected.

It was determined that all instances of this behavior from the beginning of 2008 through
the beginning date of this DQR were caused by precipitation/dew/frost.
Measurements:sgp30ecorE24.b1:
  • Water vapor density (q)(mean_q)
  • latent heat flux(lv_e)

Subject:
SGP/ECOR/E10 - Incorrect CO2 fluxes
DataStreams:sgp30ecorE10.b1
Description:
The analog CO2 signal from the LI-7500 to the sonic anemometer became very noisy and
incorrect CO2 fluxes resulted. Sonic anemometer was replaced.
Measurements:sgp30ecorE10.b1:
  • CO2 flux(fc)

Subject:
SGP/ECOR/E14 - Sensor failure
DataStreams:sgp30ecorE14.b1
Description:
The water vapor output of the LI-7500 was too low, indicating that water vapor leaked into
the sensor and that the chemicals are spent or there was an electronic failure.

Latent heat flux was not normally affected by this problem.
Measurements:sgp30ecorE14.b1:
  • Water vapor density (q)(mean_q)
