readme.sfc Readme file for IHOP MIPS surface station data (S.Paech) The MIPS surface station data files are named YYYYMMDD_sfc1.dat, where: YYYY -> year MM -> month DD -> day The data file records, column by column, are: COLUMN VARIABLE ------------------------------------- 0 -> Program Constant 1 -> Year 2 -> Julian Day 3-4 -> Hour & minute, Second.fraction-of-second (UTC) 5 -> Pressure (kPa) 6 -> Temperature (F) 7 -> RH (%) 8 -> Wind Speed at 3m (m/s) 9 -> (ignore - wind speed repeated) 10 -> Wind Direction at 3m (deg) 11 -> (ignore) 12 -> Pyranometer (W/m^2) A sample line is given below: (Column #) | 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 (data line)| 102,2002,151,1322,28.25,93.448,70.863,65.455,4.998,4.9982,129.06,0,283.91 The SFC station instrumentation was mounted on a rack on top of the MIPS Van. The wind monitor was 3m off the ground and approximately 1m off of the roof of the van. Data was collected at 1 sec intervals. Wind directions have been adjusted to take into account the MIPS orientation (as specified in ihoplog.dat) during each deployment. The breaks in the data are when we were moving, or when the system was down. Instruments Used: - RM Young wind monitor - Epply pyranometer - Vaisala BPTB210 barometer with static pressure head - Vaisala platinum resistance temperature detector, and Vaisala Humicap 180 capacitive relative humidity sensor Refer to ihoplog.dat for information regarding MIPS setup during each deployment.
