SALLJEX GOES-East: Full Disk Infrared Imagery 1.0 General Information The GOES-8 Imagery (JPG) is one of several satellite products collected as part of the South Ameican Low-Level Jet Experiment (SALLJEX) field catalog operated by the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research/Joint Office for Science Support (UCAR/JOSS; http://www.joss.ucar.edu/salljex/catalog/). UCAR/JOSS utilized its SeaSpace system to retrieve data from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 8 (GOES-8) and developed sectors over the SALLJEX region. This data set consists of the full disk channel 4 infrared imagery from the South America and South Pacific SALLJEX regions. Channel 4: (longwave infrared; 10.70um) The products cover the period from 16 October 2002 - 18 February 2003 and cover the SALLJEX sector (0-40S and 35-85W). The products are typically available every 15 minutes, but rapid scan imagery are also often available. All images are in jpg format. 2.0 Data Contact Jose Meitin Field Operations and Data Coordinator NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory Visiting Scientist UCAR Joint Office for Science Support Boulder, Colorado USA Voice: 303 497-8168 Fax: 303 497-8158 Email: meitin@ucar.edu 3.0 Product Information UCAR/JOSS utilized its SeaSpace system to retrieve data from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 8 (GOES-8) and developed sectors over the SALLJEX region.
