1.0 DATA SET OVERVIEW

This data set contains hourly resolution surface meteorological
data from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) network.
The network consists of 102 stations over the Lower Colorado
River basin in central Texas. This data set covers the period
from 1 May to 7 July 2003. The data are in columnar ASCII format.

2.0 INSTRUMENT DESCRIPTION

2.1 Instrumentation

All the gauges have the same type of rain (Sutron tipping bucket),
temperature, & humidity sensor. Most gauges have the same type of
wind sensor (MetOne Sonic Windspeed & Direction). Not all gauges
have every type of sensor. Many gauges do not have a wind sensor
at all.

I do not know the exact height of all the wind speed sensors. We
attempt to install them at a consistent height but not all of them
are. We do not have the height on record anywhere. The other
sensors are not at a consistent height at all gauges either.

2.2 Station Locations

Station location information can be found in the file
gage_info_111703_a.xls included as part of this data set.

3.0 DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING

4.0 DATA FORMAT AND FILE NAMING

4.1 Data Format

These data are in columnar ASCII format.

The format varies by station due to differences in instrumentation.
The header portion of each data file contains format information.

All times are Central Standard Time.

4.2 File Naming conventions
