1.0  DATA SET OVERVIEW
     

This data set contains hourly and daily resolution precipitation data
from the Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) precipitation
network.  This network includes 108 stations around the southeastern
Michigan.  This data set covers the period from 1 May to 31 July 2003.  
These data are in columnar ASCII format.

2.2  Station Locations
 
Station location information can be found in the file semcog_locations.txt
included with your data order.  This station list is from 1999. An updated
station list is not currently available.


3.0  DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING


UCAR/JOSS conducted no processing or quality control on these data.


4.0  DATA FORMAT AND FILE NAMING


4.1  Data Format
 
These data are in columnar ASCII format. 

Each data file has a header line that describes the parameter and
units contained in each column of data.

4.2  File Naming conventions

semcog_yymmhrly.txt

where:
        yy is the year
        mm is the month
        hrly is the data type: hrly = hourly
                               smry = daily


5.0  DATA REMARKS

It is unknown if the times in the files are in local or UTC.  SEMCOG has
been contacted repeatedly, but no response has been received.
