2006-03-03 TREx side camera movie files PRELIMINARY The camera is a Point Grey Research hi-Res Flea - Color, 1024x768 resolution. The Navitar DO-412 lens has a focal length of 4 mm. The FOV is about 62 degrees horizontally and 48 degrees vertically with some barrel distortion. It is on the left side of the aircraft, pointing approximately perpendicular to the aircraft longitudinal axis, and slightly (about 5-10 degrees) downward from the horizontal. More precise pointing angles will be determined later. Images were acquired once per second and stored as JPEG-compressed files of about 75 kB each. The UTC date and time are encoded in the filename as YYMMDD-HHMMSS.jpg. These are the archived images. They were also annotated with the flight number and time in the upper left of the image and compiled into MPEG 4 movies. Playback rate is 15 frames/s, 1600 kb/s data rate. The movies can be played by Quicktime 6.5 or later (Mac and Windows), xine (linux), or RealPlayer 10.5 and later (Windows OK, Mac not tried). S. Beaton Individual flight comments: RF01: Some gaps in data. Clock not synced so time could be off. RF02: Time based on file creation time on NFS server. One jump of ~20 s around 21:48:07 RF03: There is a 10 minute gap late in the movie due to restarting the computer. RF04: RF05: Computer was shut down by the user at 0823, about 15 minutes after takeoff, and after booting the camera image acquisition program was not restarted. Therefore there are no images after that time. RF06: Images from takeoff until 221040 UTC when the disk ran out of inodes, though only 12% full. Two and a half hour gap from 17:00 to 19:30, unknown cause.
