This data set includes soil moisture measurements from Inyo County during the T-REX period. The data are volumetric soil water content by depth for each access tube at each monitoring site. The data are in the file: 2006_soil_water_results_to_TREX.xls The notation is our standard notation of wellfield, site number, tube number (e.g. LW1 1 is Laws wellfield, site 1, tube 1). Several of the sites were only visited once during the study, hence the blanks in the spreadsheet. The data were collected using a neutron probe and site specific calibrations. The station metadata are in the file: access_tube_utm.xls This includes the UTM coordinates for each tube, soil map unit and vegetation map units. I just noticed that we don't have GPS data for 4 tubes at LW3. At the scale of any model for the valley, each site is basically a point. Most tubes are only a few meters apart including those at LW3. Also, the soil and vegetation maps are pretty coarse scale so don't infer this is site specific information. Digital soil maps and data for the Owens Valley are available from the NRCS. We have the LADWP 1984-87 vegetation map if you are interested. I didn't spend much time making the spreadsheets pretty, but I hope this helps.
