TOVS-Derived Downwelling Surface Longwave Radiation in the Arctic 1979-2005 https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/106.411 Summary This data set contains downwelling flux of longwave radiation (DLF) measurements over the Arctic. These data were derived from TIROS-N Operational Vertical Sounder (TOVS) radiances of temperature profiles, humidity estimates, and cloud cover combined with brightness temperature differences from pairs of infrared and near-infrared TOVS channels used to infer cloud phase and geometric thickness. Data were gathered daily between 13 July 1979 through 31 December 2005.
