Japan Research Vessel Chofu Maru High Resolution Radiosonde Data https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/110.103 Summary This is one of the upper air data sets developed for the THORPEX Pacific Asian Regional Campaign (T-PARC). It includes 75 high vertical resolution (2-second) radiosonde soundings from the Japanese R/V Chofu Maru. The soundings were typically released two times per day (00 and 12 UTC) from 16 August to 14 September 2008. Additional radiosondes were released when there were active tropical systems. The soundings from R/V Chofu Maru were released in the area to the south of Kyushu, Japan. The raw sounding data were made available by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). NCAR/EOL converted these soundings to the EOL Sounding Composite (ESC) columnar ASCII format and conducted a series of quality control checks.
