The Arctic Region Climate System Model (ARCSyM, Lynch et al 1995) has been developed for studies of ocean-ice-atmosphere and land-atmosphere interactions in the high latitudes on seasonal to interannual timescales. It was developed from the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Regional Climate Model Version 2 (RegCM2, Giorgi et al. 1993), with changes intended to enhance the performance of the model at high latitudes, and to enable studies of the coupled system.
