Purdue University Portable In Situ Precipitation Stations (PIPS) Data https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/541.029 Summary This data set contains drop size distribution and surface meteorological data from the Purdue University Portable In Situ Precipitation Stations (PIPS) that were deployed at locations around northern Alabama and southern Tennessee during the VORTEX-SE 2017 field season. Each of the PIPS has a OTT Parsivel2 laser disdrometer and a surface meteorological station. The drop size distribution data are at 10 second intervals and the surface meteorological data are at 1 second intervals. The data were collected during VORTEX-SE 2017 IOPs and one PIPS was run continuously next to the University of Massachusetts FMCW radar. The data are in a comma-delimited ASCII format.
