Optical Ice Detector Cloud Phase and Water Content Data [Collins Aerospace Inc.] https://data.eol.ucar.edu/dataset/567.014 Summary This data set includes the measurements acquired from the Collins Aerospace Optical Ice Detector (OID) during the High Ice Water Content (HIWC) Radar Study flight campaign. The HIWC Radar Study project took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Palmdale, California; and Kona, Hawaii. The Optical Ice Detector is a polarimetric cloud LIDAR system capable of discriminating cloud phase and measuring water content. Cloud phase and water content are computed from measurements of optical extinction, backscatter, and depolarization derived from cloud LIDAR reflections.
