Ivotuk Leaf Area index measurements. Investigators: Catharine Copass, Erika Edwards, Jason Beringer PI: Terry Chapin LAI measurements were taken at approximately peak biomass at the Ivotuk grid sites in 1998. The measurements were taken with the Li-cor LAI 2000 Canopy Analyzer, using the 90 degree field of view restrictor to mask the operator. Each grid point measurements reflects the average (as calculated by the Li-cor) of four ground measurments, one in each ordinal direction from the pin flag marking the grid point. The alphanumerics reflect the grid points at the Ivotuk grids, which use the ATLAS grid system of rows A-K and columns 1-11, enclosing a 100m grid. Grid points are therefore 10 m apart. The grids were named and numbered, which has led to some confusion. MAT (moist acidic site) = site 1. MNT (moist non acidic tundra)= site 3. Moss (moss rich acidic tundra) = site 4. Shrub (dwarf birch shrub tundra) = site 2. The measurements were taken on the following days: MAT 8/1/98 MNT 7/30/98 Shrub 7/6/98 Moss 8/3/98 Missing data is given -9999
