This archive contains the analysis data for the NSF Project "Surface-Based Inversions over Antarctica from Concordiasi Driftsonde data: Characteristics and Comparisons with ERA-Interim and Satellite Data", ANT-0733007. Contact Patrick Boylan (boylan@ucar.edu) or Steve Cohn (cohn@ucar.edu). This data consists of the matched pairs of temperature profiles that were used for analysis. The date range of the data is September 23, 2010 to December 8, 2010. All of the raw data are publically available. The dropsonde data are available at https://www.eol.ucar.edu/field_projects/concordiasi. The ERA-Interim data can be downloaded at http://apps.ecmwf.int/datasets/data/interim-full-daily/. The AIRS data products are available at http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/AIRS/data-holdings/by-data-product-V6. The IASI data is availabe at http://navigator.eumetsat.int/discovery/Start/Explore/Quick.do. The data are located in a zipped tar file for each data product: AIRS, IASI, and ERA-Interim. Each tar file contains a number of files labeled XXXX_YYY_###.txt, where XXXX is the data product, either ERA, IASI, or AIRS YYY is the is either 'snd' for sonde data, 'sat' for AIRS and IASI, or 'rea' for ERA-Interim. ### is the matched pair number. For example, 'AIRS_sat_1.txt' and 'AIRS_snd_1.txt' are the matched profiles for the satellite (AIRS) and sonde, respectively. ERA.tar has 1248 files, IASI.tar has 1146 files, and AIRS.tar has 3100 files. Each file has the same data structure: First line: LAT,LON,DATETIME LAT is in degrees LON is in degrees DATETIME is of the format "YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS". The times are in UTC. The remainder of the file consists of two columns. The length of the columns varies by file. These contain the profile of temperature and pressure: PRES,TEMP PRES is the pressure in hPa (mb). TEMP is the temperature in degrees Celsius The temperature and pressure are extracted from the publically available raw data. The sonde temperature data have been smoothed with a Savitsky-Golay filter.
