Instrument The University of Notre Dame (ND) radiosonde system is an IMET-3050A 403 MHZ GPS, consisting of the following components: (i) 403 MHz Omni-Directional Antenna and Receiver Assembly, (ii) 403 Power-Comms Cable, (iii) PSU/Data Converter, (iv) USB Cable, (v) Tripod, (vi) laptop. An iMet-1-ABxn 403 MHz GPS Radiosonde, including solid state pressure sensor, is used to obtain thermodynamic measurements and GPS winds. Balloon specifications are: Totex 200gr balloon with dereeler and parachute. 3. Data Collection and Processing Sounding thermodynamic data measured by the radiosonde are collected and processed by the iMetOS-II software package. Note that the average radiosonde readings over the past few seconds were used for temperature, relative humidity and pressure surface data. 4. Data Format -Data file structure: column delimited ASCII. -File name includes the date of sounding, approximate time of launch, launch site name. -Launch information given in the file header. -Missing data replaced by "//" or "-9999"
