MPD-NetDemo: Micro-Pulse DIAL (MPD) Network Demonstration

Summary

This project is the first deployment of the network of five NCAR Micro-Pulse DIALs (MPDs). We test the network capability of these systems toward providing continuous water vapor profiles. EOL also fields two GPS receivers to provide precipitable water vapor at two of the MPD sites. This demonstration project occurs at the ARM/SGP field sites, allowing for collocation with ARM operational instruments, including Raman lidar, Atmospheric Emitted Radiance Interferometers (AERIs), microwave radiometers and Doppler lidars. ARM supports this project by providing 8 radiosonde launches per day from the Central Facility.
