GCIP/GIST: GCIP Integrated Systems Test

Summary

The Global Energy and Water Cycle Experiment (GEWEX) Continental-scale International Project (GCIP) Integrated Systems Test (GIST) takes place in the Arkansas-Red River basins as a data system test prior to the start of the 5 year GCIP Enhanced Observing Period (1995-2000). The Arkansas and Red River basins provide a number of watershed areas that are potentionally useful for hydrologic focussed studies. The GIST Data Set constitutes the third in a series of GCIP Initial Data Sets (GIDS-3).

Objectives:

The primary objectives for GIST are: (1) to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the scientific community, the adequacy of a GCIP data collection and management system for an initial set of diagnostic, evaluation, and modeling studies; and (2) to rectify any data system modifications identified in time for providing the services needed during the Enhanced Observing Period.
