DC3: Lightning and Aircraft Trajectory Animation
Summary
This dataset contains Lightning and Aircraft Trajectory Animation data collected during the Deep Convective Clouds and Chemistry Project (DC3) 2012 project. Two mpeg animations were created of the June 22, 2012 lightning with aircraft tracks to try to visualize where the lightning was with respect to the airplanes. Both show 2 minutes of lightning and aircraft with a change of 20 seconds between frames. The DC8 is orange and the GV yellow. In one the lightning is shown as points (better to see where each flash is) and the the other it is density of points (better to see where the flashes are the densest). These are meant to be an overview of storms that day.
