EOL data archive

The EOL data archive contains atmospheric, meteorological, and other geophysical datasets from operational sources and the scientific research programs and projects for which NCAR/EOL has provided data management support. The project list may be sorted by selecting the header keys and full project descriptions and dataset lists are available by selecting the project title. You may search for projects with the form below. You may also search for datasets by keyword or space and time.

CO2: CO2 Instrumentation Test
Gail Bingham (Utah State University) made changes in the sensing head of his fast-response C02 instrument to provide a local measurement of pressure and temperature. These data allowed corrections to eliminate anomalous measured variations in CO2.

CABLE: Clean Air Boundary Layer Experiment
The major scientific goal of this experiment was to investigate the atmosphere for evidence of parallel instabilities which may lead to the development of squall lines in the central United States. Previous data collected in the SESAME 1979 Experiment...

MAYPOLE: May Polarization Experiment
MAYPOLE was a joint experiment between FOF at NCAR, OSU (Ohio State University), CSU (Colorado State University), and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).  The experiment was conducted near Boulder, Colorado during May and June 1983....

OPUS-II: Organization of Persistent Upwelling Structures - II
David Stuart (Florida State University). Stuart used the Queen Air for continued studies of the Organization of Persistent Upwelling Structures (OPUS) off the coast of California between Piedras Blancas Point and Point Conception. The aircraft...

ATLAS-82: Atmospheric Tunable Laser Absorption Spectroscopy - 1982
The Atmospheric Tunable Laser Absorption Spectroscopy - 1982 (ATLAS-82) experiment served as a re-test to a prior project, which also tested the usefulness of tunable laser absorption spectroscopy for measuring atmospheric trace gases. A tunable...

NEWS-82: New England Winter Storms - 1982
The New England Winter Storms - 1982 (NEWS-82) study addressed mechanisms of band formation in a New England winter storm. The structure of the bands and their environment were documented with synoptic observations, radar data, and analyses of QueenAir...

MSS-82: Marine Stratus Studies - 1982
The Marine Stratus Studies (MSS) project, led by Dr. James W. Telford, studied the marine stratus near the California coast. This project was aimed at explaining the development of the dynamics, microphysics and radioactive properties of stratus clouds...

FAC: Flow Around Cumuli
The Flow Around Cumuli (FAC) project was designed to make convergence measurements around cumulus clouds and thunderstorms. Such inflow and outflow information provided a critical test of convective models and was useful in determining the effect of...

OFB: Ozone Flux and Budget
The Ozone Flux and Budget (OFB) project investigated tropospheric sources and sinks of ozone by measuring budgets of mean ozone concentration and ozone concentration variance in an urban environment. The method employed direct measurements of ozone...
