Abstract:
This project is aimed at distinguishing between temperature related and prey density related responses of juvenile and adult pollock, a nodal species in the eastern Bering Sea food web. Understanding these biological responses will help predict ecosystem responses to projected reduced production, increased overlap between piscivores and forage fishes, and increased abundance of piscivores due to predicted warming of the climate. The specific functional forms and relationships measured between predator and prey will become a critical component of the FEAST model (Project B.70).

These data are generated by trained biological laboratory technicians using electronic balances or stomach content weights, multiple soruces for prey identification verification. Data were entered directly into an MS Access database using real time error checking. Secondary error checking was performed upon completion of the analysis. Therefore, these data are considered highly reliable.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Predator information (predator size, haul data, etc.) is checked against collection forms at the time of analysis and upon completion of a sample set. The sum of the prey are compared with the total stomach content weight for a given predator for consistency.
