TITLE: Mesonet USFS Remote Automatic Weather Station (RAWS) Data [JOSS]

1.0  DATA SET OVERVIEW
     

This data set contains hourly resolution surface meteorological
data from the Remote Automated Weather Stations (RAWS) network.
RAWS is an interagency network with most stations in the western
US.  These data were retrieved from the Western Region Climate
Center.  Included in this data set are data from 10 stations in
the IHOP region (1 in MO, 2 in NE, 3 in TX, 2 in OK, 1 in KS, and
1 in CO) over the period from 1 May to 30 June 2002.  The data 
are in columnar ASCII format.

UCAR/JOSS conducted no processing or quality control on these data.


4.0  DATA FORMAT AND FILE NAMING


4.1  Data Format
 
These data are in columnar ASCII  format. 

Each file has header lines with parameter and unit information.  The
precipitation is cumulative with occasional resetting.

Data are in Local Standard Time.  Some of the stations are in the
Central Time Zone and others in the Mountain Time Zone.

4.2  File Naming conventions

wichita_OK

where:
        wichita is the station name
        OK is the state
